Match: Italy vs Netherlands
Competition: International Friendly
Time / Date: 21:45h / 4th June 2018
Venue: Allianz Stadium
The two big World Cup missings this summer will be playing against each other in preparation for the UEFA Nations league and Euro 2020 qualification. Both teams were disappointed by Sweden, the hosts were eliminated from the “Yellows” in playoff clashes for Russia, while the Netherlands finished behind them (Sweden) in the group because of a goal difference only.
In Italy, great changes are expected under the guidance of Roberto Mancini, he has recorded two games so far, with the losing 3:1 from France and after the game Mancini called on fans to be patient over this young squad.
The ‘Oranje’ are unbeaten in ten of their last 12 games with 9 wins in that spell. Netherland were left by well-experienced players of Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder and here their manager Ronald Koeman will have to reshape one of their positions in the squad.
This is the fifth friendly meeting between these sides in the space of 9 years. Italy have won the last 2 while there were 2 draws. The Dutch won the last competitive clash, a 3-0 win at Euro 2008.
Azzurri needs more this victory and this can be expected in front of own fans, both teams have a lot of offensive potentials and the goals are guaranteed having in mind that it is a friendly match.
