Match: Spain vs Switzerland
Competition: International Friendly
Time / Date: 22:00h / 3 June 2018
Venue: Estadio de la Ceramica
Spain will play its last test at Villareal in front their own fans against Switzerland’s defensive team, which will offer a good test to Julen Lopetegui, before the World Cup in Russia this summer.
I’m expecting Julen Lopeteguy to give a break to most of his main players who took part in the Champions League final a week ago. Spain enjoyed qualifications in which didn’t lose a single match (9W, 1D). After qualifications, they recorded four friendly games in which they didn’t feel the taste of losing again and three of them scored 3 or more goals (only against Germany they scored 1 goal), the last game they played was at the end of March against Argentina, in which La Furia Roja broke their opponent with 6:1.
At the expense of their opponent, Switzerland relies on their defense to continue. In the last 20 games they recorded only one loss and in this period they received an average of 0.5 goals. They finished second in their group and had to play a playoff against North Ireland in which win with 1: 0 on aggregate.
This is going to be the sixth match between this two countries, Spain won three and recorded one loss and a draw. It is interesting that in 2010 Switzerland won the game against Spain in World Cup, but then Spain has won the World Cup.
Having expected rotations in the Spanish team, and taking in mind that Isco is the main suspect in most La Furia Roja attacks, we can suppose a few goals in the match, but we can not expect a big surprise and Spain will win.
