Match: Brazil vs Croatia
Competition: International Friendly
Time / Date: 17:00h / 3 June 2018
The Selecao is one of the few favourites who decide to record a frieldny game with an elite opponent like Croatia, a team full of potential with players from Europe’s elite championships such as Modric (Real Madrid), Mario Mandžukić (Juve), Andrej Kramaric (Hoffenheim) and others.
Brazil finishes first in SOUTH AMERICA qualifications with 41 points in 18 games and passed for the World Cup in Russia this summer with no problems. After the qualifiers, they had the chance to play 4 friendly games with not dropping one (3W, 1D). In the last three, they did not concede against England, Germany and Russia and defeated the last two teams.
Croatia, on the other hand, did not go as easily as World Cup qualifiers and at their group ended in second place after the surprise in the soccer world of Iceland. Of course, they had to play playoffs with Greece, having recorded a big win in Croatia with 4:1 and 0:0 in Greece. After these two matches, they had two tests in March against Peru (lost 2:0) and Mexico (win 1:0).
For Tite, the big question is whether superstar Neymar will be able to take part in this meeting after not playing since February and during the week there was a slight ankle problem, everyone would look at him. I personally expect the show in this match to take Firmino and Coutinho on a stadium who are used to playing.
These two nations for the first time made a friendly meeting in 2005 that ended as a draw with a score of 1: 1 with the goals scored by N. Kranjčar and Ricardinho.
Then they have two more World Cup meetings in 2006 and 2014, and Brazil won both, the first with 1: 0 and the second with 3:1.
The form of Brazil is impressive and will surely want to raise some enthusiasm before the World Cup in Russia. While Croatia are not persisting in their performance with only six victories in the last 14 games. I expect a victory for Selecao with the minimal result by relying on Croatia to come out with a defensive plan to prepare for Argentina (they are in a group with Croatia at WC).
