Liverpool vs Newcastle : Preview & Tips

Match : Liverpool vs Newcastle

Competition : England – Premier League

Time / Date : 19:30h / 3 March 2018

Venue : Anfield

Liverpool have the chance to leapfrog Manchester United into second, albeit potentially only until Monday night. Jurgen Klopp’s side are one of only two teams left in the Premier League this season yet to lose at home, while they haven’t suffered defeat at home to Newcastle since 1995.

Liverpool have scored 18 goals in their last 6 matches. Their attacking trio of Momahed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have been terrific this season and particularly in 2018.

The talented trio have scored a combined 66 goals this campaign. In fact only one of Liverpool’s last 21 goals wasn’t scored by one of these three players: Emre Can vs Huddersfield.

Newcastle are undefeated in their last 4 league matches. Rafa Benitez’s team have drawn 3 and won one of their last few games. That win came against Manchester United which proves Newcastle have what it takes to beat the best sides in the league.

Newcastle team news

Islam Slimani is ruled out of the trip to Anfield. The on-loan Leicester forward is struggling with a thigh injury but he should be available for selection in the coming weeks.

Jesus Gamez is also ruled out, while Jonjo Shelvey is a doubt.

H2h meetings

Liverpool and Newcastle have both won two, drawn three, and lost two of their last seven encounters with one another.

Liverpool’s attack is up there with the best in the world and the Reds seem guaranteed goals in almost every game that they play and they face a Newcastle side who have conceded 38 goals already this season.
